Welcome!
Happy to have you here! This blog consists of my adventures in video games that I wanna tell my girlfriend all about but don't have the chance to. My posts may occasionally drift into the territory of movies, anime and books that struck a chord with me and I wanted to lay down my impressions, so that even though we may be apart, she gets to hear my ramblings which as she put it "used to annoy the heck out of her but now seems to miss".
I'm very passionate about my hobbies and as a gamer with completionist tendencies I have tons of things to talk about whenever I play a certain game. My girlfriend, however, had never played a video game in her life. That is, until she met me and impressed by how psyched I still was about a game I'd played 5 years ago, decided to let me introduce her to the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Maybe it was due to COVID lockdown, maybe it was my arguments on how awesome video games are, or maybe she was just sick of hearing about it and wanted me to finally shut up by giving me the satisfaction of playing the game with me. I can't be sure but I can tell you that a year later, she still fondly remembers the months we spent slaying monsters, mixing potions, and upgrading our gear while chasing after our Child of Destiny.
After miraculously acquiring a PS5 and having to move to another country due to work, I even gave her my PS4 so that she could scratch that itch she now had for doing the occasional monster contract.
And even though I miss annoying her with my ramblings, I can't waste the limited time we have FaceTiming, which is already way less than I'd like it to be because of the time difference. I do, however want her to know about the adventures I have while gaming without her knitting on the couch next to me. I want to tell her about the kingdoms I conquer, the dragons I slay, and the numerous trophies I unlock more than I wanna tell any of my gaming buddies or precious reddit communities. That's how I got the idea for this blog, where I can lay down my impressions, highlights, struggles and achievements and express my excitement, knowing that she gets to hear about it... eventually.
Although the blog posts are meant to be read by a certain favourite non-gamer of mine, I believe they can be enjoyed by everyone. And if you're like me and need help convincing your girlfriend to give your favourite game a try - you're welcome to quote me, as I understand better than anyone that the struggle is real.
